Lamppost banner art

Make time in your peregrinations about town to check out the exquisite lamppost banner art by our local artists. Around the Taos Plaza you might see art by Lydia Johnston and Geraint Smith (east); Karen Alhgren and Char McMacken (north); Nina Anthony and Elida Hanson-Finelli (west); and Diane Nelson-Smith and Ronnie Bower-Dennis, among others. On Bent Street you might see that by Peggy Trigg and Max Jones. Out of more than 200 submissions, 66 winners were chosen to have their work featured on banners throughout the town from April to October of this year. The Lamppost Banner Competition set out to celebrate and acknowledge living artists and educate visitors that Taos’ art scene, while historic, is very much a vibrant art market for present artists. Go to taos.org/ winners for the full list.
