Your faith communities are here for you. Richard Rohr, a Roman Catholic theologian, calls this time a liminal space, a time of transition between what has been and what will be. During this time we commit to continue to live our beliefs that each and every person is of sacred worth, no matter what. Everyone is essential to our community and we have different parts to play in responding to the coronavirus pandemic. Compassion is central to all of our faith traditions. As we are all living in this new, liminal space together we strive to be open to one another in creative and kind ways as each of us struggles to find our path forward.

We support physical distancing, staying safe and protecting others. Even as we stand apart, we stay together building closer spiritual relationships with our faith communities, families and friends. Who are we? We are members of the Taos Interfaith Gathering, a collection of faith community leaders: inter-spiritual,

Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Protestant, Roman Catholic and others who come together to promote interfaith understanding and mutual respect in order to support the needs of our community in creative and transformative ways. The Taos Interfaith Gathering has been meeting regularly for the past year. In that time we hosted the December 2019 Taos County Homeless Memorial Service on the Taos Plaza, came together to raise funds to forgive nearly $250K in medical debt and have collaborated on a number of programs to ensure everyone in Taos has enough to eat.

We thank everyone for all their hard work in responding to the pandemic, those who are doing the challenging task of staying home and those who are serving our community in public places. We look forward to when we can be together in our worship spaces again, recognizing in the meantime that anywhere we come together in care and love, whether virtual or physical, is a sacred space. Until we can meet in person, we encourage you to live well, love, look forward with hope and stay safe.
