THE TAOS CENTER FOR THE ARTS (TCA), Town of Taos Community Events, and Taos Ski Valley (TSV) are collaborating in order to offer a self-portrait contest and virtual exhibition for children, ages 3-10, in the Taos community. “This Is Me – A Kid’s Virtual Art Show” comes on the heels of the TCA’s “Portraits in Social Isolation, 2020,” a self-portrait show.

The show is open to children ages 3-10 years. The use of materials from home are encouraged if they are available, but having the art materials is not required. Art packets are available for distribution on a first-come first-served basis Friday (May 15), 10 a.m.- noon at Enos Garcia Elementary, at 305 Don Fernando Street in Taos.

Requirements of the artwork include the following:

1) Artwork must be on an 8.5 x 11-inch sheet.

2) Create a picture of yourself. Theme is “This is Me.”

3) Write your name, age and contact on the back.

4) Completed artwork must be dropped off/submitted Friday, May 22, 10a.m.-noon at Enos Garcia Elementary.

The virtual exhibition will be displayed online at tcataos.org starting June 5.

“This kids’ self-portrait show offers children the opportunity to make their self-portrait, be creative during this time and share their work in a project that will then be available for others to see. TCA is thrilled to participate in this collaboration with the Town of Taos Community Events and Taos Ski Valley to serve the community.” Said TCA Executive Director Colette LaBouff.

Winners will be selected from the following age categories. Ages 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10. One prize in each category will be given by TCA, Town of Taos and TSV.
