David Trelawney Nichols, 78, of Taos

Laverne Alicia Martinez, 56, of Ranchos de Taos

David Trelawney Nichols

Beloved of many, admired by plenty, and respected by those in the know, relinquished his body on the beautiful spring afternoon of Wednesday, May 13th, 2020 in Taos, New Mexico. The rhythm and thrust of David’s life, loves, passions, addictions, and artistry form a grand narrative. His unrealized expectations and those ambitions he manifested, shaped by his strong will and drive towards perfection, will leave an inspirational legacy of a life determined to be seen. Simply put, he was brilliant. He thrived as a production designer, writer, actor, artist and as a gentleman. His many contributions to such films as Taxi Driver, Hoosiers, Groundhog Day, Serpent and

the Rainbow, and Mr. Holland’s Opus will forever inform the psyche of those who worked beside him and the generations who will go on to experience the atmosphere of his films. A celebration of his life will be announced post-pandemic. In lieu of flowers please donate to any animal support foundation in his name. David was 78 years, 5 months and 23 days old.
