Age 79, a resident of Questa, passed away unexpected­ly on Wednesday June 10, 2020. She is preceded in death by her husband, Cornelio Cisneros Jr; son Arnie Cisneros Sr; parents Maxwell and Katie Martinez; sister, Juanita Martinez, and brother Antonio Martinez. Sofia was a woman who had amazing strength and compassion, she was always willing to help those in need. Most knew her from working many years as an amazing cook around many restaurant­s in the Taos, Questa, and the Red River area. But most importantl­y she had a strong belief for her Catholic Faith. Sofia is survived by her daughters, Carmen Martinez, Cathy Valencia (Sam), Sandra Cisneros, and Maxine “Lita” Cisneros (Florence); grandchild­ren, Elaine Gutierrez, Daniel Valencia (Alysia), Deena Trujillo (Matt), Arnie Cisneros Jr. (Berta), Andrew Martinez, and Vanessa Wilson (Gino); great grandchild­ren, Kaitlyn, Angelica, Ayden, Neveah, and Andrea; aunts, Betty Martinez, and Merilyn; uncle, Jimmy Cisneros (Rose); sister in-laws, Rosie Cisneros (her best friend), Patsy Cisneros, and Olivama Rael; brother in-laws, Albert Ortiz and Romolo Martinez; along with many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and cherished friends. Public visitation was held on Sunday June 14, 2020 from 2:00-4:00pm in the Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. Private rosary and Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Questa with burial at the San Pedro Cemetery. The family of Sofia C.
