Two businesses in Taos – Super Save Discount Foods and Ziggy’s Frozen Yogurt, both on Paseo del Pueblo Sur – each had a positive COVID-19 case in the last two weeks, setting off the state’s rapid response process.

Super Save had an employee who tested positive on Oct. 11 and Ziggy’s had one test positive on Oct. 13.

Those were the only two positive cases listed at either business since the state began releasing the information in mid-May.

The New Mexico Environment Department publishes a daily list online of businesses where at least one employee has tested positive though there is a lag time before the information is available to the state.

The state Environment Department will now also compile and release daily a “watchlist” of businesses that have had more than one positive coronavirus case within two weeks. The New Mexico Environment Department announced Tuesday (Oct. 20) that it will publish the names of commercial businesses, government agencies and institutions that have had two or more rapid responses in 14 calendar days. The Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist will be updated on the department’s website.

“Employees, their families and members of the public have the right to easily access this information,” said NMED Cabinet Secretary James Kenney in a statement. “New Mexicans need to know how well or how poorly businesses and organizations are doing in their efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.”

As of Tuesday (Oct. 20) New Mexico had 37,896 COVID-19 cases and 942 deaths in the state linked to the novel coronavirus disease. Taos County had 175 positive cases and 4 deaths. Of the positive cases, 101 were reported as “recovered.” Colfax County has reported 42 positives and 1 death.
