VISUAL ARTS CALENDAR
Ghoulish portraits from Alex Chavez
Alex Chavez’s lush skeleton portraits are perfectly timely for Halloween and Day of the Dead. He creates his “Other Worldly Delights” oil paintings in his studio in Taos. “Through my work, I seek to remind viewers that because death is everpresent, life is something that should be celebrated,” he states. Born in Los Angeles, Chavez returned to Taos, where his mother was born, in 1996. He is represented by the Keep Contemporary gallery in Santa Fe. Studio visits by appointment at (575) 779-7247.
