What’s happening where
Dixon at 203
Paintings by Tom Dixon are now on view as a part of 203 Fine Art’s Holiday Exhibition. Dixon’s “Corridor” was highlighted in press materials, where the gallery said it was “pleased to feature this painting, which was originally created by the artist in 2018, and then reworked in 2020. The two-year passage of time and energetic re-approach is apparent in this powerful composition.”
This exhibition is on view through Jan. 31. Visit the gallery to see Dixon’s “Corridor,” as well as works by 203 Fine Art’s represented contemporary artists, including select items from the R.C. Ellis estate; and works on paper and collages by Beatrice Mandelman from the Bea Mandelman estate collection through Jan. 31. For the online catalogue, see issuu.com/203fineart.com/docs/2020mandelman-catalogue-works_on_paper_ framed_pie.
Open daily, by appointment, 203 Fine Art is located at 1335 Gusdorf Road, Suite i, in Taos. For more information, see the Events page on their website 203FINEART.com. Merce Mitchell of virtual Vortex Yarns wishes fiber fanatics a happy New Year and notes in a press release, “The end is always a beginning, and coming to the end of this year has given me time to reflect on what I want to create in the new year. I have been working on some new ideas to be launched this January and invite you to check in soon and see what’s new and inspirational.” Included are as follows: The Little Pick Me Up Box will be launched – the theme for this upcoming mystery box is “Sox Box” – including both sock yarn and sock-weight yarn for socks and a wrap;
Spinners Delight – a goody box of roving, sparkle, yarn bits, threads, silk and curly mohair locks to inspire you to create your own unique batt with your own carders;
Try Before You Buy – a mini-skein sample pack of all Vortexyarns hand-dyed yarns that you can touch, see and swatch before buying a regular-sized skein;
And because I have had so many requests for my tonal semi solid Merino roving (sold by the ounce), I am working on the color palette and a sampler card you can order to compare the actual roving with the online photos. You can save for future reference or use the roving in your next project.”
Watch Vortexyarns’ Instagram to receive notice of the January Flash Sale. Mitchell appreciates all the support last year and looks forward “to creating and hope you are too.” For more, visit vortexyarns. com.
