Can Biden bring nuclear peace? LETTERS

-

Dear Editor,

Hopefully President Biden will make nuclear deals with Iran and North Korea. However, it is equally to be hoped that he does not repeat the fatal flaw of the first Iran deal: It imposed a waiting period for the inspection of suspected sites. This would have allowed them to move the materials for making a nuclear weapon – such as enriched uranium – to a second site during the waiting period for the first site; then when the second site would come under suspicion, it would have a waiting period during which the material could be moved to a third site; and so on. (That is why a future President may cancel the deal again.)

Give a hoot, please.

As a long time resident and walker of Cottam Road I have seen the increase of trash thrown from cars consistent with the increase of traffic. Those liquor minis, fast food bags, beer cans and bottles, cigarette packs and filters, used diapers and now masks. Need I go on!!

This year I decided to organize a neighborhood clean up. In obtaining bags I contacted Taos County Road Department and talked with Edward Martinez. He assured me that Cottam Road was on the schedule to be picked up and had actually sent a person that day of Monday,April 19. I was thrilled and relieved and want to thank Mr. Martinez and the young man whose back was surely aching after picking up all those bags of other peoples’ trash.

Our neighbors did get together Saturday morning the 24th and managed to pick up an additional five bags. Afterward we gathered for coffee and conversation. Getting to know our neighbors was an added benefit.

Thank you for your participation neighbors.

PLEASE DON’T LITTER. IT IS UP TO ALL OF US!
