- TOBIN CLARK WROTE:

It’s time for the Town of Taos to open up again

“Makes sense. But like any ‘business’, the city government offices should have the discretion to impose reasonable policies, upon reopening, to protect employees and customers.”

ALICE ROBISON WROTE: “Shoot! I missed the swearing in of our new mayor. Also, as I recall, the Taos City is getting a big sum of money to upgrade the building. It will be fun to come inside and see all the improvements. We must demand that the city buildings are open to us all serving the folks of Taos.” Ronda Kelly wrote: “How sad places have stayed closed when other states never closed or only closed for a few weeks. Over 2 years later and Taos acts like they are groundbreakers on reopening businesses.” RICK BELLIS WROTE: “Actually, it isn’t closed. But the story keeps appearing.”

New Taos mayor, councilors, re-elected municipal judge take office

ALFRED KELLY WROTE:

“Please, Mr. Mayor and Council members, reinstate recycling. I’m sure people who throw a piece of plastic away or a can or a bottle in their garbage feel very guilty plus we look terrible in the eyes of other cities counties and states with no recycling in Taos. Thank you.”

JEFF BLACK WROTE: “Now we’ll have a mayor and city council that can concentrate on helping the people instead of the fat cats.”

Kachina Lodge changes hands for second time in three years

BONNIE GOLDEN WROTE:

“Indian Hills Hotel sat in [ruins] for years. Purchased by the Cassetta Group, it still sits as an eye sore waiting years to become something.

Just because a company from elsewhere purchases a hotel and has done well somewhere else doesn’t mean they have a clue about renovating, or doing biz in Taos. Town of Taos has failed by not having building and “eyesore” codes. These companies should be fined for failure to complete for making our town ugly.”

CAROLYN KAHN WROTE:

“What a great idea! We have stayed at the Kachina several times while building in El Prado and commented on the large size of the rooms and how they would be great for skiers. I love the idea of having rental housing for workers, as this is a problem throughout the area. I wish the new folks well.”

DEBORAH PERRIN WROTE: “Too bad Mr. Gill didn’t sell before he cut down the magnificent old trees lining Paseo del Pueblo. And before he refused to host the art exhibit of crows. I won’t be sorry to see his back. As for the planned name change, why not keep a brand, much listed in guidebooks, that has attracted visitors since the 1940s?”
