Taos is set to get its third recreational cannabis dispensary this weekend, as OSO Cannabis plans to open its 10th dispensary at 338B Paseo del Pueblo Sur next to Taos Fly Shop.

The NativeAmerican managed business is expanding to Taos through an arrangement between the company and “a Native American women and minority business group with ties to the Northern New Mexico pueblos and communities,” according to a press release from the company.

“With the legalization of recreational cannabis use, we are excited to announce the opening of our newest location in Taos,” said James Mountain, a managing partner of OSO Cannabis Taos in a statement. “Our focus is bringing the highest quality cannabis to the New Mexico community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, informative and approachable.”

“We believe that our understanding and appreciation of the culture, traditions and long standing history of northern New Mexico keeps us grounded and committed to providing a responsible service to our communities,” said Beatriz Talachy, who is also a managing partner of OSO.

OSO also says it grows their cannabis completely organically. “The farms use all-natural fertilizers and nutrients to harvest fragrant, flavorful and visually appealing plants,” said the statement.

The company said they hope to show their commitment to social responsibility, with the goal of helping to foster additional growth in the industry from Native entrepreneurs.

“Our group understands that community and our people are interwoven and remain the heartbeat of northern New Mexico built upon generations of our Native American and Hispanic heritage,” said Mountain. “We understand that our success becomes the success of the community and our people.”
