Zelma Goldstein

-

Our dear friend, Zelma, was welcomed into heaven on March 24, 2022. While looking out the window at the sky and trees, she saw her welcoming family and with a beautiful look on her face and mouthing words to them, she took one last breath and left this earthly plane. Born in New York, November 14, 1929 to Isidore and Rebecca Goldstein. Her sister, Janet Klein, followed Zelma. All preceded Zelma in death. Survived by niece, Molly Klein (Sicily), nephew, Adam Klein (Isabelle) and family (Canada). Graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Zelma spent 40 years in this highly competitive industry of textile and fabric design. Becoming one of the first vice presidents and producing over 150 designs per year. During these 40 years, Zelma traveled to major design centers in Europe, Rome, Milan, London and her favorite, Paris. In 1989, Zelma began another chapter of her life my moving to Taos, New Mexico. All new beginning for her, new home, pets, driving and a plethora of new friends. Her flair and sense of style were exceptional. She was charming and gregarious beyond words. Her parties are still talked about. She was, one of a kind. We were blessed to have her here and sharing her life, generosity, art, humor and stories. Most importantly was a new beginning in artwork, mixed medina, pastels, oils and watercolors. Describing her work as “minimal and abstract,” evolving as she was. Then in 2013, she moved to Taos Retirement Village. She was asked to curate an art show with the residents of TRV in their Village Center Gallery. Overflowing crowds and sales from all the artists. Zelma also created and made jewelry, beaded necklaces and so much more. She was a lady of many talents. Thank you to Holy Cross Hospital and staff for their excellent care of Zelma while she was there. Thank you to Taos Retirement Village, Brian Chou, who made so many things possible for her final days, and the wonderful, loving staff that gave Zelma so much love. The everyday staff of TRV, Doris, Elena, Caremela, and so many others that were so kind and helpful to Zelma. Thank you to Hospice, Diedre, for all the help, kindness and knowledge you bring to help on final days of loved ones. Thank you, Renate Hume, for being with me on her final day! A celebration of life for Zelma will be announced soon. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home. To share a memory, please visit our website at www.riverafuneralhome.com
