Dorothy J. Lampl

-

Dorothy was born July 9, 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK and passed peacefully at her home in Ranchos de Taos, NM, Sept 10, 2022. The only daughter of Pearl and Vernon Ham, Dorothy was a “rebellious misfit,” award-winning artist, and part of the Taos Impressionist Art legacy. She studied illustration in college at OSU, and continued her fine art training with mentor Richard Goetz. A resident of Taos for over 30 years, her work was featured in many publishings, including Southwest Art. Her passion led her to showcase her work in galleries all over the country, including Wilder Nightingale Gallery, Taos, as well as through workshops on both coasts, including Nimrod Art Colony. When she wasn’t painting, she devoured books, filled her space with jazz and classical music, rescued cats, gardened, knitted, volunteered with many organizations, including Mountain Home Hospice, helped out at Moby Dickens Bookstore and relished any British murder mystery. She is survived with much love by her five children - Brad, Mignonne, Mary, Ellen and Suzanne, as well as her grandchildren Meghan, Kyra, Caitlin and their siblings and family, Chloe, Jade, Bella, Julie and numerous great grandchildren, all who carry her passion for life and creativity, and will be missed by all her friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stray Hearts Animal Shelter. The family of Dorothy J. Lampl has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos. 866-657-4019 www.devargastaos.com
