Age 84, a resident of Talpa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 19, 2022. He is preceded in death by his son Gilly Vigil; parents Gilbert and Eloisa Vigil; brothers Alfonso and David Vigil; sister-in-law Adelaida Vigil; nephew Christophe­r Vigil; parents-in-law Margarito and Margarita Duran; and sister-in-law Rose Duran. Gilbert was employed by the Taos County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy, retiring after serving for 20 years. He loved working on classic cars with his son Gilly and was very talented in doing so. Gilbert was a very kind and loving man, he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife Betty Vigil; children Donald Vigil and Gail Vigil; grandchild­ren Danielle Rodriguez (Joshua), Gilly Vigil (Rachel), Angel Morales (Marcos), Constancia Trujillo, Cassandra Trujillo (Andrew), Angela Vigil (Levi), Isaiah Vigil, Manuel Trujillo (Marissa), Alejandro Trujillo (Renee); 13 great-grandchild­ren; siblings John Vigil and Faustina Vigil; sisters-in-law Evelyn Anaya (Steve), Cathy Vigil and Pauline Vigil; brothers-in-law Manuel Duran,

Gustavo Duran (Irma) and Herb Duran (Andrea); best friend Ray Silva; plus many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Deborah van Willigen and Dr. Elise Janowak, as well as the staff of Taos Mountain Home Hospice for the care given, DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos, and extended family and friends. Rosary was recited on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at 10:00am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Talpa Cemetery.
