Taos Open at Quail Ridge wins regional tournament award
The southwestern chapter of the national governing body for tennis in the United States, USTA Southwest, has awarded Taos Tennis at Quail Ridge with the 2022 Southwest Tournament of the Year Award. The nonprofit organization operates in the states of Arizona and New Mexico, as well as the Greater El Paso Region of the state of Texas.
In a letter from Jeff Sikes, USTA Southwest marketing and communications manager and awards liaison, addressed to Kurt Edelbrock,
Sikes writes, “It is my pleasure to inform you that you and your event - TAOS ADULT OPEN - have been selected as our 2022 USTA Southwest Event of the Year Award winner. Each year our Awards committee pours through many applications of past players and volunteers in a variety of awards categories. Congrats! We are proud to now call you a Southwest award winner.”
Sikes also mentioned to the Taos News that “Kurt Edelbrock and the gang there at Taos Quail Ridge have run this quality event for years.
“We know the players that play in this mid-summer adult tournament in July always have an unbelievable time,” Sikes continued. “The scenery is great, the facility and the courts are top notch, and the overall vibe and feel of the event is something we consistently hear great things about. Kurt is a very experienced tournament director and knows how to put on a memorable event that’s a great playing and social experience for all participants.”
As the tennis director, Edelbrock will receive the award on Saturday (Dec. 3) at the Hall of Fame and Awards Reception in Scottsdale, Ariz.
