Questa volleyball players named all-district
Ladycat volleyball team raises funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
After a 10-12 regular season campaign for the Questa Ladycats volleyball team, two of their players were named all-district, while another pair of Ladycats received honorable mentions.
Senior Jordyn Martinez finished this season with 129 kills, 19 aces, 6 blocks, 65 digs, 164 service receptions, and 102 service points. Sophomore Alyana León finished out the season with 102 serving points, 22 aces, 50 digs, and 278 assists.
Senior Karina Rael and Sophomore Delilah Rael received the honorable mentions.
Ladycats raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
According to the head coach of the Questa Ladycats volleyball team, Diane León, “a long-time tradition by the Questa Lady Cat volleyball team was continued once again this year by honoring, recognizing and helping out our local cancer heroes, or — as we like to call them — ‘warriors.’”
León explained that the girls and Junior High Manager Ysidro Garcia sold nearly 300 cancer awareness T-shirts in one week. “Celina and Chris Trujillo with Northern Design quickly got to work on the order to have them printed prior to our Dig Pink game that took place on October 18th,” she said.
León continued, “Our entire profit was then divided amongst three recipients: Gloria Segura, Martha Sanchez and Johnny Gonzales — who each received a check in the amount of $2,000. Surpassing past year’s contributions, all of this was made possible by the generosity of our players, manager, parents and our great little community whose willingness to help others in need always comes through. Thank you!”
Alyssah Duran of Alyssah’s Creation Station also donated three gift certificates to each recipient for a handmade tumbler of their choice.
“On behalf of the Questa Volleyball, we would like to thank everybody for their continued support of our fundraising efforts and wish healing and blessings upon ‘Our Local Warriors.’ You are in our thoughts and prayers,” León said.
