Blessed are the pure of heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8. Maria Berlinda Gomez was called by our Lord God on Thursday, December 22, 2022, unexpected­ly. Maria was born September 2, 1934 to Feliciano Rael and Soraida Rael, both deceased. Maria’s oldest son, Rogerio Steven Gomez died May 16, 2022, his wife, (Linda). Her baby daughter, Susanna Josephine died September 16, 1959. Maria’s granddaugh­ter, Ramona Marina González died September 16, 2021. Maria’s remaining children are Felix Feliciano Gomez (Linda), Nancy Pauline González (Johnny), Frankie Arthur Gomez, Della Rufina Apodaca, Nina Soraida Apodaca (Ken) and Charlene Valora Ramos (Jose). The father and husband of Maria’s children, Rogerio Arturo Gomez is deceased. He gave Maria the nickname Mere. Maria leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Isaac Rael (Gertrude –deceased), Clarita Cordova (Wilfred – deceased), Orlando Rael – deceased (Bernie), Rogeria Romero (Leroy – deceased), Paul Rael (Carolyn), and Abedonia Buckard (Bob – deceased). Maria also leaves behind many other relatives and friends. She was very friendly with an open and warm heart. Maria’s grandchild­ren are George Steven Gomez (Donna), Bonnie Ann Gomez, Juan Bautista Sutberry, (Valerie), Miquelita Sutberry, (Mark), Fernando Gomez, Jason González (Maria), Juan González (Beverly), Kathleen Green (David), Tianna Wooldridge (Joshua), Consuelo Bighley (Jacob), Celina Apodaca (Victor), Miguel Apodaca (Jennifer), Robert Apodaca, Eloy Apodaca (Aileen), Ben Apodaca (Jackie), Lucas Ramos (Gloria), Lucy Marquez (Tony). Maria has thirty-two great grandchild­ren and two great-great grandchild­ren, four step grandchild­ren and six step great-great grandchild­ren. Berlinda was a very loving and caring woman to all of them. Berlinda was always a very hard-working woman, when her children were young, she would can many fruits and vegetables and cook delicious meals for them, always making sure they were cared for and loved. Maria had a green thumb, enjoyed being a rock hound, crocheting rag rugs and sharing them with family and friends. Berlinda worked as a housekeepe­r and later in life as a cook in many restaurant­s making the most scrumptiou­s meals. Berlinda enjoyed getting dressed in nice clothing, sporting lovely hats and nice jewelry, she was beautiful. For entertainm­ent, she enjoyed eating out and an occasional trip to the casino. Maria loved each of her children as individual­s and special to her in their own way. Berlinda was a great story teller relaying stories of our ancestors, some were quite funny and candid.
