Explora provides real experiences with real things that put people’s learning

in their own hands. Explora is part science center, part children’s museum, part free-choice school, part grandma’s attic, part grandpa’s garage, part laboratory, part neighborhood full of interesting people and part of many people’s lives.

The museum’s Explora program in Taos on Feb. 3, will employ a hands-on, inquiry-based learning approach to science, math and art, creating opportunities for inspirational discovery and the joy of lifelong learning through interactive experiences in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Hands-on science activities and tabletop exhibits will be set up for self-guided exploration and discoveries.

One of many Town of Taos community events, the current activity is co-sponsored with the Taos Youth and Family Center. “Taos Middle School will be attending,” Esquibel explained, “And the whole community is invited.”

Other events in February include a Valentine Craft Making and Cookie Decorating on Feb. 10 at Taos Youth and Family Center from 1-4 p.m. for the month of February.

Also, as part of Read Across America Annual Reading, organizers will be reading to the head start students, Inspire Bilingual Early Learning, and Little Bug and reading at the birthday party, Dr. Seuss‘s Birthday Party.

“On Friday, March 3, we have our huge Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Party at Taos Youth and Family Center from 1-4 p.m.,” Esquibel explained. Children attending the birthday party will receive a free reading bag and a children’s book, and enjoy activity tables, balloon animals, face painting and more.
