Bernice Ann Oakeley-Cardenas

-

Age 76 of Denver, Colorado. Bernice was born in Taos, New Mexico to Thomas & Trinidad Oakeley on March 30, 1946. Bernice is survived by her loving husband, Andy Cardenas, her children Charles, Christopher and DeAnne (Darnell), her brother-in-law S Oliver Romero (Maya) - (Roland (Gloria), Nichole & Thomas (Andrea)), her step-grandchildren Jemelle & Jayden Tullock and step-great grandchild DeAngelo Tullock. She is also survived by multiple brother/sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and too numerous to list dear friends of which she held all dear to her heart. Bernice was preceded in death by her father, Thomas S Oakeley, her mother Trinidad R Oakeley, her brother Charlie Oakeley and her sister Maya O Romero. She went to high school at Central Catholic High School in Taos, New Mexico and graduated in 1964 (Salutatorian). She was formally retired, but last worked as a Senior Accountant at the Denver Regional Counsel of Governments for seven years. She enjoyed everything crafty (from ceramics to jewelry to crocheting to making personal cards and beyond) and would spend hours in her garden making it just so. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the From Forgotten to Forever Rescue at www.fromforgottentoforever.com/donations in her name. We “found” her pup Macey through them, and she was a huge source of joy for her. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Archdiocese of Denver and St. Simeon Catholic Cemetery on their attention to detail and guidance through this whole process.
