Taos Mountain Bike Association to host free screening of ‘Esperanto’

-

The Taos Mountain Bike Association (TMBA) is inviting the Northern New Mexico community to kick off another season of riding with some of the best the sport has to offer with a special film screening this Sunday (March 26) at the Taos Center for the Arts, 133 Paseo del Pueblo Norte.

According to a press release, Taos Mountain Bike Association is hosting a free screening of the latest mountain biking action film from extreme sports media company, Teton Gravity Research, “Esperanto” at the TCA. The film mixes stars of mountain biking, like Cam Zink, Brage Vestavik and Emil Johannson, with a cast of up-and-coming riders to explore a universal two-wheeled language.

That language has the same reach as that constructed international auxiliary language, Esperanto, which allows people from different nations that don’t share a native tongue to communicate. Following that universal theme, “Esperanto” was filmed across eight exotic locations, including Barcelona, Japan, Zambia, Ecuador, Utah, Jackson Hole, Canada, and La Fenasosa Bike Park in Alicante, Spain.

“We wanted a mixture of stories to highlight how global cycling is. I was really excited to explore this idea of common ground, whether it be the big names like (Brandon) Semenuk and Zink, or names you’ve never heard,” the film’s director, Jeremy Grant, has said.

“All of the performances were amazing. That’s what is special about this film, every segment is vastly unique and shot from different corners of the globe,” Grant added.

The film is not rated, however it is suitable for all ages.

Taos Mountain Bike Association aims to use the event to spread the stoke for another season of riding as the ski lifts finish up their turns early this spring. Check out TMBA’s Facebook, Instagram, website and email lists to stay up to date on upcoming group rides and other events planned in our own backyard.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday with the film set to start at 5:30 p.m.

While the screening is free, a ticket is still required to reserve a seat, which can be reserved at tcataos.org or the event link: bit.ly/ mtbmovie.
