Health Care that Heals

- By Dena Miller APEXNETWORK PHYSICAL THERAPY OF TAOS

As more Taoseños look to take charge of their health and well-being, ApexNetwork Physical Therapy of Taos is recognized as the premier local option for those who are seeking a uniquely accessible and expert level of care.

“We have innovated the way people can connect with providers of preventative and restorative physical therapy by serving the community as a primary resource for treatment of musculoskeletal-pain-movement dysfunctions,” explained Tim Cousens, a physical therapist and member of the ownership group that brought ApexNetwork to Taos. What that means for clients is immediate care, better experiences and better outcomes.

In addition to sports or other injuries and recovery from falls, ApexNetwork offers modalities that treat conditions affecting the back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot through orthopedic manual therapy, strength and conditioning, and rehabilitation. Clients leave with a greater understanding of their condition and how to manage pain, and with knowledge of exercises that improve range of motion, balance, flexibility and muscle strength.

Often without the need for a referral from a physician, prospective clients can avail themselves of a same-day, walk-in visit. A 30-minute screening and consultation with the staff’s licensed therapists will evaluate the efficacy of an appropriate therapeutic protocol for an individual’s concerns. Recommendations may then include an office treatment plan, home exercise, a referral to an orthopedic specialist or any combination of services.

“Many folks don’t understand exactly what physical therapy encompasses and we are here to help clear up the confusion,” Cousens said. In fact, he referenced a recent Medicare study conducted by the federal government that found there were many more positive outcomes for those patients who accessed the correct physical therapies sooner rather than later. “Fix it right the first time,” he said, and you may likely avoid struggling with the same problem down the road.

We have innovated the way people can connect with providers.

Clients are also pleased to note that services are covered by Medicare and most insurance plans. ApexNetwork can work out a payment plan to cover the out-of-pocket expenses if necessary.

“ApexNetwork is here to elevate the standard of care that clients can receive and the manner in which they can access it.”

Cousens, who lives in Gallup, N.M., noted the region has historically been underserved when it comes to health care. From the Four Corners to the Navajo Nation, access often depended upon hours-long drives to receive the quality care that residents deserved. When ApexNetwork, based out of Illinois, decided to expand, their first market was New Mexico with the inaugural clinic opening in Gallup in 2014. Today, ApexNetwork clinics can be found in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Gallup, Bloomfield, Farmington and Kirtland, in addition to Taos.

Here in Taos since 2018,“ApexNetwork has become embedded as a respected health care resource for all of our local residents.” The practice has been so successful, they are poised to move into a larger space at 834 Paseo del Pueblo Sur (the former Aaron’s building) and are looking forward to its grand opening, scheduled for May 2023.

Though clients may only evaluate ApexNetwork upon the outstanding care they are receiving, Cousens explained the nationwide corporate franchise model underlies the quality and scope of available services.

“I am a licensed and trained physical therapist, and my avocation has always been to provide clients with the relief that physical therapy can offer them. I always wanted my own business, but I didn’t have that background. Apex, as a franchise opportunity, opens the door to therapists such as me; ones who are well-trained, accomplished, dedicated and talented, and who can now focus on wellness as opposed to the details of operating the business itself. So, Apex has attracted an amazing wealth of talent, benefitting the clients who walk through our doors.”

Whether your concern is an injury, or you want to age strong and be guided through a customized program that will allow you to live an active lifestyle without the worry of falling, ApexNetwork Physical Therapy of Taos should be your first call. 101 Herder Road, Suite C 575-613-1093 apexnetworkpt.com
