Often without the need for a referral from a physician, prospective clients can avail themselves of a same-day, walk-in visit. A 30-minute screening and consultation with the staff’s licensed therapists will evaluate the efficacy of an appropriate therapeutic protocol for an individual’s concerns. Recommendations may then include an office treatment plan, home exercise, a referral to an orthopedic specialist or any combination of services.
“Many folks don’t understand exactly what physical therapy encompasses and we are here to help clear up the confusion,” Cousens said. Cousens, who lives in Gallup, N.M., noted the region has historically been underserved when it comes to health care. From the Four Corners to the Navajo Nation, access often depended upon hours-long drives to receive the quality care that residents deserved. When ApexNetwork, based out of Illinois, decided to expand, their first market was New Mexico with the inaugural clinic opening in Gallup in 2014.
