In a small community where overdose rates are climbing to unprecedented numbers, two organizations are stepping up to make a difference: Porch Light Health, which has operated as Front Range Clinic in Colorado for nearly 10 years, is joining forces with Rio Grande Alcoholism Treatment Program (ATP) Inc. to bring comprehensive outpatient addiction care under one roof in Taos. Join us for an open house Feb. 16 to celebrate and see the services now being offered to the community.

New Mexico has seen some of the highest overdose rates in the nation. Behavioral health services are a valuable treatment tool for individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Rio Grande ATP has a robust behavioral program that addresses the clinical needs of individuals with SUD. But more is needed. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration states that research supports the utilization of medication in combination with therapy to improve treatment outcomes and minimize the risk of overdose.

Enter Porch Light Health. Porch Light Health’s mission is to provide low-barrier, high-access, quality medical addiction treatment to those affected by substance use disorders and related medical conditions. Porch Light Health offers medications for addiction treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol use disorder and for benzo, stimulant and nicotine use. They also offer psychiatric services and Hepatitis C treatment. Porch Light Health has had a location in Farmington, New Mexico since 2019 and is excited to expand our reach and services to Taos and additional New Mexico communities throughout 2024.

Taos pharmacist John Hutchinson, who acts as a consultant to Rio Grande ATP, Inc. and will be a new provider for Porch Light Health, is thrilled to be a part of this collaboration. “We are glad to be bringing in a company that specializes in the treatment of substance use disorder. Access to medication assisted treatment is necessary and proven to save lives. This will benefit our community in a number of ways and be a positive addition to Taos County.”

The partnership between Rio Grande ATP, Inc. and Porch Light Health provides individuals seeking SUD treatment with robust wrap-around care that will address the full biopsychosocial impacts of SUD in one space. With a shared building, we are minimizing the barriers to care experienced by folks with SUD. This partnership provides an opportunity for existing

Rio Grande ATP, Inc. patients to access medical care to further support their recovery. This relationship is reciprocal as Porch Light Health patients will have access to on-site behavioral services. The co-located nature of this partnership will ensure individuals can have all of their SUD needs addressed at a single location improving engagement and retention outcomes.

Most insurances are accepted, including Medicaid. Please join us for an open house lunch-and-learn Friday, Feb. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 105 Paseo

Del Canon W, Suite A, Taos. Food will be catered from Michael’s Kitchen.
