06/19/1951 - 11/05/2018 DANVILLE, GA- Austin Wayne Lewis, 67, diedMon­day evening, Novem­ber 5thwhile un­der­watch­ful care at Emory Univer­sity Hos­pi­tal in At­lanta fol­low­ing a brief ill­ness. His beloved and de­voted spouse, HankLit­tle­was at his side.

Austin­was born June 19, 1951 in Bax­ley, Ge­or­gia and was a res­i­dent of Danville, Ge­or­gia.

He was a vet­eran of the United States Navy, hav­ing served on the air­craft car­rier, USS John F. Kennedy and worked as a Ph­le­botomist TeamLead­er­with­LabCorp.

In re­cent years Austin was part of the very fab­ric of Cen­te­naryUnit­edMethodist Church and loved to share the story of his church fam­ily. He was a com­mu­ni­ty­maker and the con­sum­mate sto­ry­teller re­gal­ing us all with tales of life - hu­mor­ous, in­sight­ful, poignant and wise. Armed with in­tel­lect, courage and a strong sense of iden­tity, Austin was not shy about shar­ing his faith, pol­i­tics, and his fa­vorite recipes. His gen­eros­ity was renowned, his com­pas­sion heart­felt, and his wit ra­zor sharp. His sto­ry­telling was sur­passed only by his ca­pac­ity to lis­ten in­tently and­make mean­ing­ful con­nec­tions. His jour­ney re­mains an in­spi­ra­tion to us all, as we mourn his loss. His con­ta­gious and joy­ful laugh­will re­main with us for­ever.

Austin was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents Austin Calvin Lewis, Jr. and Sarepta An­nie Stone Lewis and his brother, Ted Lewis, Sr. He is sur­vived by his spouse, Hank Lit­tle, step-mother Thelma Lewis, brother Dr. Jack­Lewis (Dr. Mary Lewis), and three sis­ters: Dorothy Watkins, Cather­ine (Ger­ald) Tem­per­ance, and Patty (An­drew) Pen­ning­ton.

A ser­vice cel­e­brat­ing his life will be held Satur­day Novem­ber 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Cen­te­nary Unit­edMethodist Church (1290 Col­lege Street, Ma­con) with visi­ta­tion Fri­day, Novem­ber 9, 2018 from5:00 to 7:00 PM at Reece Fu­neral Home (15548 US Hwy 80, Jef­fer­son­ville, GA 31044).

Chris­tel was born on Au­gust 14, 1973 in­Niceville, FL to the lateHar­ryWayne and Mar­ion Delores (Wor­thing­ton) Parish. She grad­u­ated cuma sum­laude from Florida State Univer­sity with a Bach­e­lor’s De­gree in Ed­u­ca­tion. Chris­tel worked­many years as the lead Pre-K teacher at Mead­ow­dale Learn­ing Cen­ters. In her spare time, Chris­tel could be found study­ing the word of God or vol­un­teer­ing her time to­min­is­ter to oth­ers. She vol­un­teered at theRe­hoboth Bap­tist As­so­ci­a­tion, help­ing with the food bank. Chris­tel was an ac­tive­mem­ber at Cen­tral Bap­tist Church, where she was ac­tive in var­i­ous min­istries and her Life Group. She adored her church fam­ily and friends and­was al­ways putting oth­ers be­fore her­self. Next to herLord and Sav­ior and hus­band, her great­est love was her son.

Left to cher­ish her me­mory is her hus­band, Gary Tressler ofWarner Robins, GA; son: Dy­lan Lash­ley of Joint Base Charles­ton, SC; sis­ters: Deanna (Parish) Re­gans of Niceville, FL and Tanya (Parish) Sells ofMont­gomery, AL; brother: Terry Parish of Niceville, FL and­many other ex­tended fam­ily and friends.
