Rogan also pleaded guilty to his new charge of retail theft in connection with a May 4, 2017, incident during which he attempted to steal a mobile photo printer valued at about $130 from the Target store on DeKalb Pike in Upper Merion. Walsh sentenced Rogan to six to 23 months in jail, to be followed by three years’ probation, in connection with the latest crime.

As a condition of the sentence, Walsh ordered Rogan to “stay away” from the Target store in Upper Merion.

In November 2015, Rogan, then 31, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of robbery in connection with the 2 p.m. Dec. 26, 2014, holdup at the Audubon Market in the 2600 block of Audubon Road. In April 2016, a judge sentenced Rogan to 11 ½ to 23 months in jail and six years’ of probation in connection with the incident.

Rogan, according to a criminal complaint filed by Lower Providence police, entered the store and brandished a silver and black 6mm BB handgun from his jacket and pointed it at two store employees while demanding cash. Rogan allegedly told one of the store clerks, “Three hundred dollars, don’t hit the button,” according to the criminal complaint.

The store clerk told Rogan he wouldn’t push a panic button and added, “Just don’t shoot me,” according to court papers. The clerk removed $350 from the cash register and handed it to Rogan.

As Rogan left the store he encountered police. Rogan immediately said, “I’m sorry” and then produced the BB gun and cash from his jacket and placed the items on the ground, police alleged. Rogan, police said, complied with police orders to get on the ground.

As police took Rogan into custody he repeatedly uttered, “I want to die. Please let me kill myself. I’m going to kill myself,” according to the arrest affidavit. After his arrest, police transported Rogan to a mental health facility for a psychiatric evaluation, court documents indicate.

Rogan was still serving his parole and probationary period for the 2014 holdup when he was arrested in May for the retail theft in Upper Merion.

Additionally, probation officials alleged Rogan violated his previous sentence by failing to abstain from the possession of narcotics or other dangerous drugs. Specifically, authorities alleged, an April 2017 urinalysis determined Rogan tested positive for the presence of oxycodone, according to court documents.
