Caroline Barbara Cleary of Audubon
Caroline Barbara (Giordano) Cleary passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Shannondell in Audubon, PA. She was 94 years old. Caroline was a resident of Audubon. Born in Camden, NJ to Italian immigrant parents, she graduated from Camden High School in 1940 and from Syracuse University in 1943, with a Bachelor of Science degree in business, magna cum laude. Caroline taught business education before marrying the late James J. Cleary in 1947. She raised her family in West Oak Lane, Philadelphia and King of Prussia, PA, where she was a substitute high school teacher and where she had many dear friends including those who gathered together for bridge games for over 50 years. After retirement, she and her husband lived in Bryn Mawr before moving to the Shannondell retirement community in Audubon.
Caroline was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Costanzo) Giordano. Surviving is her loving family including two daughters, Mary Tassoni and her husband, David, and Carolyn Cleary; two sons, James Cleary Jr. and his wife, Agnes, and Kevin Cleary and his wife, Susan Williams; nine grandchildren, Sean Cleary, David Tassoni Jr., Joseph Tassoni, James Kevin Cleary, Jaclyn Nicodemo, Jonathan Cleary, Joseph Cleary, Katherine Lehmann and Daniel Lehmann; five greatgrandchildren; and numerous cousins including Gloria Giordano, Gene Baretta and Irene Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 61 years, James J. Cleary; and three halfbrothers, Dominic, Frank and Paul Giordano.
Relatives and friends are invited to Caroline’s Funeral Mass at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1260 S. Trooper Rd., Trooper, PA on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 am. Her viewing is Saturday from 8:45 to 9:45 am, at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1260 S. Trooper Rd., Trooper, PA 19403.
