Four Elements New Age Center focuses on holistic and spiritual offerings
POTTSTOWN » One of Pottstown’s newest businesses offers holistic and spiritual products and services for people who are curious about the offerings and for those who have fully embraced their spiritual side. Four Elements New Age Center opened on the autumnal equinox in September, at 17 N. Hanover St.
“Everyone that comes in has said they feel nothing but great vibes here,” said owner Michelle Bassett Rohrer, an astrologist and psychic. She added that after moving to Pottstown from Phoenixville, she was drawn to the Hanover Street location as a site for her new business.
“I don’t know what drew me here — sometimes you just have to go with the flow,” said Rohrer, adding that said she had been planning the center for some time.
“I had a business plan, I saw this location become available, called the landlord, took a tour and immediately fell in love with it.”
The center offers stones and crystals, which have different properties; sage for clearing both good and bad energy in a space, jewelry, incense, candles, soaps, lotions, sprays, books and other items. The center also offers psychic readings, Reiki and other services.
Rohrer is quick to point out that the center is more than “just a store,” stressing that Four Elements New Age Center is for everybody.
“It’s open to anybody who themselves is open,” she said.
As far back as she can remember, Rohrer said was sensitive to what others were feeling.
“I am very sensitive to people’s emotions — they call that an empath. There are so many people that walk around that are empathic and they don’t know or realize it,” she said.
Rohrer said that as a 7-yearold growing up in Rochester, N.Y., she didn’t understand why she could feel what so many around her were feeling.
“It never registered with me until later, about what was really going on,” she added. “I shut it all off. I wanted to be normal like everyone else.” She fully embraced the spiritual side of herself about six years ago in what she calls her “spiritual awakening,” and has worked ever since to develop her natural skills and abilities — to fine tune them.
Rohrer said because Four Elements is a spiritual shop, she uses sage every day before she opens the center.
“It helps to clean out good and bad energy. A lot of people think sage is only for negative energy, but sage cleans out all energy,” she said, adding that people carry different energy with them. “It’s in our aura — our field — so we tend to leave it different places. And we pick up energy at different places as well.”
She said it’s important to refresh all of the energy in a space, because even the good energy can get “muddied.”
“People like to come in here, because I keep the energy here so easy — they like to come in and sit and marinate in it,” she said.
Rohrer said one of the things customers will notice is what she calls “a bar” inside the shop. At the counter, she has a small menu of different things she can make for customers.
“When we do some of the manifesting candles we anoint them with oils. Some people cannot burn sage in their house, so I make different sprays — room cleansing sprays and there’s a sleep spray.”
One of the services Rohrer offers at Four Elements is Reiki.
“Everyone has an aura — an energy field. A Reiki practitioner helps to channel the energy to help clear, cleanse and recharge your energy field, your aura, your body,” Rohrer said.
Rohrer said during a Reiki session clients completely clear their minds.
“It’s like putting yourself into a deep sleep but being awake. People say they feel so completely relaxed,” she said.
There are three levels of Reiki practitioner, according to Rohrer. She is a level three practitioner — a teacher/master.
Another service offered at the center is Hot Chakra healing, where hot stones are placed at various spots on the body.
“The heat is one of the things that helps to open the chakras. It helps to calm the body down — allowing it to open up and receive the healing,” Rohrer said.
As a psychic medium, Rohrer also offers personal readings.
“Most of the time people come to me for readings because they are just stuck in their life. They are unsure of where to go. I help steer them back on the right path. I do use tarot cards, but nine times out of 10, I just use my psychic ability,” she said.
Rohrer acknowledges that often when someone comes in for the first time, they are trying to see if she is legitimate.
“So usually I start with what I am being told by spirit — is what I call it. Before my cards even come out, I just start shooting things. And I’ll pull my cards out when I need more in depth inspiration. In my reading I will close my eyes and I will focus and tune in.”
Four Elements New Age Center also holds events. Last week, the center hosted a Manifest Mania — at the time of the new moon.
“Manifesting is attracting those things that you want in your life,” Rohrer added.
Another event scheduled for Thursday night was a Winter Solstice Gathering, and on Jan. 6, the center will host a Vision Board Workshop.
Rohrer, 35, is a single mother of two boys. In addition to Four Elements New Age Center, she owns Michelle’s Beautique — a salon in Exton she has operated for the last seven years. Rohrer’s nephew Robbie Kniest recently moved to the area from Rochester to help with Four Elements.
“I really want people to know that everyone is invited to come in. During the full moon party — we had several people who just came and hung out — they like the feeling of the place,” she said. “My doors are not always open, but when they are — they’re wide open.”
