Dr. James F. Duffy of East Norriton passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on December 30, 2017. Jim was born on June 24, 1928 to the late Joseph F. and Mary J. (Whittle) in Chester, PA.

Loving husband of 57 years to Ann (nee Kniezewski); beloved father to Jennifer Coffey (Daniel), Joseph Duffy (Lois), Amy Grimes (Warren), and Jessica Duffy (Ross); doting grandfathe­r to Laura Murphy, Natalie Duffy, Erika Grimes, Sean Duffy, Colin Duffy, Jennifer Wisneski, Colleen Lynn and Daniel Coffey; great-grandfathe­r and uncle to many; and dear brother to the late Reverend Joseph F. Duffy and the late Elizabeth Duffy Johnson.

Upon graduating from Chester High School, Jim went on to St. Joseph’s University, graduating in 1951. He married the love of his life, Ann, in 1960 and completed his Ph.D. in psychology from University of Pennsylvan­ia in 1961. While working as a psychologi­st, Jim also served as the vice president of student affairs at Villanova University from 1968 to 1976, and he was the first layperson appointed to this position in the history of Villanova. Later, Jim was a professor in the Graduate School of Education at Villanova University, a position he thoroughly enjoyed until his retirement.

Though he was an accomplish­ed and successful man, Jim’s greatest joy was his family and his family felt that love and delight to the depths of their hearts. Each family member was influenced, supported and loved by Jim in his own unique relationsh­ip with them. Jim enjoyed his home, his wife, his time with family, books, learning, classical music, attempting to learn Spanish for years, his many pets, and above all, his grandchild­ren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jim’s Life Celebratio­n on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 9:30AM to 10:50AM at St. Titus Parish of East Norriton, 3006 Keenwood Rd. with a funeral Mass to immediatel­y follow. Inurnment will be at a later date at the convenienc­e of the family.
