Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train
The Paoli/Thorndale SEPTA regional rail line was closed in both directions Wednesday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train near the Wynnewood Station this morning, forcing commuters to find alternative transport.
SEPTA reported on its website Wednesday morning that, following a fatality with an Amtrak train, both inbound and outbound tracks were shut after the incident that happened around 10:40 a.m. The rail lines reopened about noon.
The following statement was received from Amtrak:
“A person was trespassing on the tracks around the Wynnewood Station area when he or she came into contact with Amtrak Train #646 at 10:36 a.m. on

Wed., Jan. 10, on its way from Harrisburg to New York. There were no injuries to the 103 passengers on board or crew members. The train was delayed for a little over an hour and the incident contributed to two other Amtrak delays. The Amtrak Police Department is working with [Lower Merion] fire and police to investigate the incident.”
