Wissahickon School District launches plan to erect new veteran memorial
LOWER GWYNEDD » To honor the brave men and women who serve to protect our country and citizens, Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Foundation (WEOF) and Wissahickon School District is kicking off a fundraiser to erect a veteran memorial on its campus. The memorial will be located in a highly visible location at the front of Wissahickon High School, 500 Houston Road, Ambler, near the stadium parking lot. Additionally, the district will recognize WHS/ AHS alumni veterans in the digital high school Wall of Honor in the WHS Audion Lobby, which will feature bios and videos of our veterans.
Community sponsorships are requested to support this noble effort. All contributions to WEOF, a 501(c) (3), are tax deductible and will help the district’s goal of raising $40,000 to start the memorial construction in January 2019 with an unveiling celebration on Memorial Day 2019. Donations can be made online at weof. org/wsd-veteran-memorial or by check.
Wissahickon School District is also requesting assistance with the following:
• Contact information for Wissahickon High School/Ambler High School alumni who served in the armed forces. If you know an WHS/AHS alumni who served, please complete our Alumni Veteran Contact Form on the web at weof. org/wsd-veteran-memorial.
• Community suggestions for an inspirational quote to be etched on our Veteran Memorial. If you have a suggestion, visit weof.org/wsd-veteranmemorial to submit your quote. Deadline is April 13, 2018.
