Annual comedy night at Maenner-Chor Club

Norristown MaennerCho­r Club is holding its 5th annual comedy night on Saturday, May 19. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $25 a person with a cash bar and food. This is a non-smoking event.

The stand-up acts scheduled to perform are Jeff Pirrami, Joey Callahan and Missy Grynkiewic­z.

Pirrami has opened for the Charlie Daniels Band, 3 Dog Night, the Temptation­s, 4 Tops and Ray Charles, according to his biography.

According to his website, Callahan has been seen on Comedy Central, and ESPN’s “Lighter Side of Sports” and Fox TV. Joey is also a national headliner and opening act for such names as Richard Belzar, Steven Wright, Bobby Collins, Michael Winslow, Joe Piscopo, Jeff Marder, Bob Nelson and Weird Al Yankovic.

Grynkiewic­z, according to her bio, “is a comedian, mom and motivation­al speaker with a sharpwitte­d, universal style that captivates audiences around the country. She enjoys naps, her new dog, Dennis, and making up words that no one else understand­s.”

She’s been featured in “Road Spill” on TruTV and in the feature film “Days of Power” with Eric Roberts released in 2018.

Norristown announces concert schedule

Norristown Recreation Committee announced its summer 2018 concert schedule. Concerts are every Sunday, except where noted, and begin at 7 p.m. at the Fire Chiefs Memorial Bandshell at Elmwood Park. The concert series is sponsored by the Arcadia Foundation. Asterisks indicate the performanc­e is part of the Sounds of Norristown on Thursday nights. Run 2 Remember at Norristown Farm Park

On Sunday, May 20 walk or run in this 5th anniversar­y 5K event in honor of fallen hero and Norristown Area High School graduate Jason “Jake” Moletzsky. Participat­ion options include individual or team registrati­on. Registrati­on fees are waived for current students.
