OLMC Grande Festa Italiana 2018 date set

The annual “Grande Festa Italiana” -- Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society feast, will be held Saturday, July 14 (4 p.m. to 11 p.m.) and Sunday, July 15 from noon to 10 at 1210 East Ridge Pike in Plymouth Meeting.

The event will feature entertainm­ent Saturday night from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. by Ken Battista Band and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Jerry Trecroce. Also on Sunday from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. the very popular AM Radio will perform.

There will be traditiona­l foods, games, prizes and family fun. New this year is a shuttle service available at the Conte Luna building parking lot with additional parking at JFK Park on Fairfield Road. The celebratio­n will include at 9:45 P.M. Sunday evening with the grand prize drawing of $1000. The highlight of the feast will be on Sunday morning, July 15th, with Mass and the Procession honoring our patroness OLMC beginning at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 454 Fairfield Road in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Monsignor Charles Sangermano, Pastor of Holy Saviour Parish, Norristown will be the Main Celebrant.

Daley to host telephone town hall

State Rep. Mary Jo Daley, D-Montgomery, invites residents of the 148th Legislativ­e District to participat­e in a live Tele-Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m. June 14.

Residents of Daley’s district will receive an automated phone call at approximat­ely 7 p.m. that Thursday inviting them to join the meeting. To participat­e, people simply need to remain on the line once they receive the call.

“I look forward to providing constituen­ts the opportunit­y to have their voices heard and questions answered without having to leave the comfort of their homes,” Daley said. “I encourage anyone in the 148th District with a question about any state or local issue to pick up the phone and participat­e on Thursday.”

During the live event, Daley will discuss and take questions on a variety of state issues, and participan­ts will be asked to weigh in on poll questions using their touchtone phones. Anyone who doesn’t have a chance to speak during the phone meeting will be able to record a question at its conclusion. Questions will be forwarded to Daley’s office for a future response.

LCN offers volunteer opportunit­ies

Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer experience, which will impact the lives of adult learners and their families? If so, LCN needs you! LCN matches adult volunteer tutors with other adults needing help with reading, writing, math, GED preparatio­n or English as a Second Language (ESL). Volunteer tutors attend a 1.5 hour Orientatio­n and 12hour Tutor Training Workshop before being matched with a student. The pair is then expected to meet at a public place twice weekly for 1.5 hours per session for a minimum of six months or until the student goal is met. Flea market at Historic Selma Mansion

The Norristown Preservati­on Society will once again host their annual Flea Market Saturday, June 16 from 8 am to 2 pm at Historic Selma Mansion, 1301 West Airy Street, Norristown. Free admission for shoppers. Craft items, toys, games, books, food and drink, and attic treasures will be offered for sale. Vendor spaces are still available, though indoor spaces are limited and filling up, first come, first served. $20/space, 8×4 feet bring your own table. Outdoor spaces are $15, 8 x 8 feet, bring your own table, chair, and canopy if needed. Spaces are selected by vendors upon arrival.
