SHILLINGTON >> Se­nior libero Si­mone Sparano thought Satur­day was the best the Pope John Paul II girls vol­ley­ball team played all sea­son.

Un­for­tu­nately for the Golden Pan­thers, West York seems to have their num­ber.

The Bull­dogs came through in the clutch time and time again in a close three-set PIAA Class 3A quar­ter­fi­nal match at Gov. Mif­flin In­ter­me­di­ate School, West York win­ning over Pope John Paul II 3-0 and oust­ing PJP for the sec­ond straight sea­son.

Set scores were 26-24, 25-22, 26-24, the Golden Pan­thers hav­ing set points in the first and third sets, only to see it slip away.

“It’s ob­vi­ously frus­trat­ing con­sid­er­ing it hap­pened three times. But they just know how to fin­ish games,” Sparano said. “I don’t think we played ter­ri­bly. I think
