Elizabeth Rose Hammond

-

Elizabeth Rose “Betty” Hammond passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 12, 2019 at age 89. Born in Norristown, Betty was the daughter of Eleanor (Greco) and

Michael Bono. Betty graduated from Norristown High School in 1947 and went onto work as a secretary for several years before devoting herself and many talents to caring for her family.

She resided in Plymouth Meeting with her ever-loving husband, John A. Hammond, Sr. who passed away in 2011.

Betty is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth “Beth” (Joseph) Yonson, the late John A. “Jack” (Linda Butera) Hammond, Susan H. (Boyd) Wolford and Michael (Lori Conicelli)

Hammond and daughterin-law Debbie DeMeno. She was the cherished grandmother of Tammi (Jeremy) Garner, Jack (Jenna) Hammond, Sean-Michael (Kristen) Yonson, Michael

Charles, Michael Stephen, Hayley Wolford-Grabowski (Eric Grabowski), and Jonathan (fiancé Leslie Pedano) and step-grandchildren TJ Smith and Jackie Smith, and great-grandmother of Nora, Chloe, Cormac, Cole, Connor, Brady, Chase, Levi, Meara, Sydney, Ethan, Colton, and Cora.

Betty was the sister of Paul Bono, and was preceded in death by her brothers Stephen and Charles.

Betty was a founding member of St. Paul’s Church. In her free time, Betty enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, but above all her greatest joy was her family. Betty was a dedicated matriarch, hosting thousands of weekly Sunday dinners, first for her family of six, then 10 with her children-inlaws, and then 17 with grandchildren, to over 20 as the grandchildren married.

When not cooking and baking her famous cookies, Betty could be found on the sidelines of her grandchildren’s many sporting events. She loved to continue to learn throughout her life,

teaching herself to swim and dive when in her 30s, going to college in her 60s, and becoming a social media maven in her 80s.

Relatives and friends are invited to Betty’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, January 16th at St. Paul R. C. Church, 2007 New Hope St., East Norriton from 9-10:45 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment will be at St. Patrick Mausoleum.
