to possess firearms in connection with a June 2018 incident at the East Moore Street residence.

Judge Risa Vetri Ferman, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, also ordered Medina to complete three years’ probation following parole. The sentence means Medina faces about five years of court supervision.

Medina must forfeit his weapon, a .22-caliber pistol, to county detectives. The judge ordered Medina to have no contact with the victim as a condition of the sentence and ordered him to complete a domestic violence counseling program.

An investigation began when the victim appeared at the Norristown Police Department and reported that she was assaulted by Medina at about 1 a.m. June 18, 2018.

The victim reported she was asleep at the East Moore Street residence when Medina came home and argued with her “because she had not answered her phone when he called,” according to the criminal complaint filed by Norristown Police Officer Joey Bianchimano.

“Medina slapped (the victim) in the face with an open hand and then produced a small .22-caliber revolver pistol and put it to her head, told her he was going to kill her, and then pulled the trigger,” Bianchimano alleged in the arrest affidavit. “(The victim) heard the firearm click but it did not go off and no round was emitted.”

The victim told police “she was in significant fear for her life,” according to Bianchimano. Later that day, the victim took the gun from where Medina left it on a dresser and she hid it in another area of the home.

After the woman filed the report with police on June 20, officers went to the residence to recover the weapon. Police found the weapon where the victim reported she had hidden it after the assault.

Medina was taken into custody at that time without further incident.

With the assault charge, police alleged Medina attempted to cause bodily injury to the victim. With the weapons offense, police alleged Medina was not legally permitted to possess a firearm.

A more serious felony charge of aggravated assault was dismissed against Medina as part of the plea agreement.
