NATURE’S COLORS: NATURAL DYES HIKE AT NORRISTOWN FARM PARK

Sunday, Sept. 22: At2 p.m. Plants provide us with a myriad of colors that can be used as natural dyes. Goldenrod flowers, marigolds, black walnuts, and pokeweed berries are just a few of the color-producing plants that you will see on this guided walk. While this is not a hands-on workshop (we won’t be picking plants or making dyes), you will be given hand-outs that explain how to make pigments and dyes from these natural materials. Meet in parking lot #3. This program is appropriat­e for adults and children ages and older. Pre-registrati­on is required. Wednesday, Sept. 25: At 6:30 the Lower Providence Community Library will host Barb Pollarine, Valley Forge Park Alliance board member, who will give a presentati­on on new developmen­ts in the park. New improvemen­ts include meadow trails, special events, upgrades to the visitor center, the proposed trail linkage from the town center developmen­t to the park and many other projects. Join Barb to learn more about all the park as to offer. The Valley Forge Park Alliance works to facilitate programs for park funding, education, volunteer programs, and partnershi­ps to preserve Valley Forge National Park. They are committed to ensuring our park is a beautiful gathering place of inspiratio­n, refuge, and commemorat­ion for generation­s to come. This program is free and open to the public. NHS CLASS OF 1949 70TH REUNION

Friday, Sept. 27: The NHS Class of 1949, remembered as the ’49ers, is holding their 70th class reunion on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 11 am to 3 p.m. at “The 1912 Club”,formerly The Plymouth Country Club. WILD MUSHROOM WALK AT LORIMER PARK

Sunday, Sept. 29: At2 p.m. Join the park naturalist on the annual early fall mushroom walk. Depending on how much rain we have had and other variables, there are different mushrooms to be seen every year. Learn why fungi are such an important part of the ecosystem. Which mushrooms are better eyed than fried? Find out the answer along with other mushroom trivia. Meet in the classroom, adjacent to the restrooms. ART INSPIRED BY NATURE AT NORRISTOWN FARM PARK

Monday, Sept. 30: At1 p.m. There is a unique harvest of craft materials at each season of the year provided by Mother Nature. Colorful leaves and seeds come to mind in the fall. Use leaves and other natural materials to create art projects suitable for framing. Printing will be one of the main activities. Bring a smock or wear old clothing. Meet in the Salt Wing. This general public program is appropriat­e for adults and children ages four and up. The cost is $5.00 per person attending. Pre-registrati­on is required.
