Don’t count on DJax despite Pederson’s optimism

PHILADELPH­IA » It’s been one month and one NFC East head coaching change since DeSean Jackson sparked the Eagles to a season-opening victory over the Washington Redskins.

It’s also been three weeks of rehab since Jackson has suited up for the Eagles, the 32-year-old veteran injuring an abdominal muscle playing just 11 snaps in Week Two against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Eagles’ offense has become much more predictabl­e without Jackson, who went deep twice for touchdowns in the opener. Jackson averaged 19.3 yards per catch and 15.4 yards on 10 targets in that game.

That said, Carson Wentz has made the most of the weapons at his disposal, proof positive the team’s 52 percent conversion rate on third down.

When Jackson will return is another matter. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson tried to put a happy face on the issue Monday. But it’s questionab­le that Jackson will be back this week when the
