POTTSTOWN >> Female entrepreneurs interested in exploring how to get their businesses certified as a Woman’s Business Enterprise, can participate in a workshop being offered by the Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East and SCORE TriCounty on Nov. 14.

The workshop is geared for anyone interested in certification — whether they are still in the exploration phase or well under way in the process.

The event will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 212 E. High St., Pottstown, in the second floor conference room.

Through the Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East (WBEC-East), a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), businesses can apply for a certification that is accepted by more than 700 major corporations, non-profit organizations, as well as many local, state and federal government agencies, according to a press release.

The certification can be used as a marketing tool for expanding a company’s visibility among and access to decision makers in supplier diversity and procurement offices. Many corporations require Women’s Business Enterprise National Council certification before providing access to their supplier diversity programs.

The Nov. 14 session will be led by Colleen LaCross, certification manager with the Women’s Business Enterprise Center–East, where she leads a team that certifies and serves more than 1,400 women owned businesses each year across the region, according

to the SCORE TriCounty website. The workshop will cover: • The eligibility requirements of certification.

• The process, costs, documents required and what to expect.

• The benefits and opportunities available to certified women owned businesses.

Certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise “is about opening up doors to a network of thousands of other women entrepreneurs and hundreds of corporate and government partners looking to work with women-owned businesses,” the press release stated.
