MILLERSBURG » Mid Penn Bank announced Monday, that it is making a change to its operations in light of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective Tuesday, March 17, Mid Penn Bank will close its lobbies to walk-in clients — limiting those without appointments to drive-thru only service. Branches will continue to provide by-appointment service in its branches.

Customers will continue to have access to the bank’s drivethru lanes during normal banking hours, with some branches featuring expanded hours, the company said in a Monday press release. ATMs, online and mobile banking solutions will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We love seeing our customers, but we also want to do all we can to help our country, our state and our communities to slow the spread of this disease (flatten the curve),” Mid Penn Bank President and CEO Rory Ritrievi, said in the release. “We believe it’s important to work together at times like this, and are taking these proactive steps to protect our customers, particularly our elderly customers, as well as our employees and the community at large.” He added that getting through the issue “starts with focusing on protecting each other.”

The company said for those customers that prefer to reach out by phone for their banking needs can still do so by calling 1-866-642-7736, or they can email questions using Mid Penn’s secure messaging service by visiting midpennbank.com/ contact-us.

Taking these steps, Ritrievi said, will help Mid Penn “improve the overall safety of our customers and employees.”

Mid Penn operates 39 branch locations in Pennsylvania, including seven locations in Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties.
