Schram says. “This virtual celebration was put together entirely by our staff, and they did an awesome job. Our total enrollment has jumped from approximately 540 to 800 students over the past three years, and I think the increase in donations speaks to the tremendous number of collaborations and partnerships we’ve been able to establish with the multiple communities Central serves.

A team of students from Central Montco Technical High School tied for first place in a craft competition at the Associated Builder and Contractors construction fair Oct. 22. School District as well as some of the area’s private schools. I think people recognize the important role the school and our students play in the community, and the community is giving back.”

The weekly donation of freshly-baked bread to area food banks (overseen by substitute CMTHS culinary teacher Colleen Kriebel, who owns and manages Kriebel’s Bakery Café in Eagleville); the use of perishables from the school’s shuttered instructional kitchen to create meals for Montgomery County OIC in Norristown (overseen by Bob Imperial of Imperial’s Catering in Trappe); and the coordination of Colonial Village Meat Market’s gift of 1,000 pounds of chicken to Elmwood Park Zoo for animal feeding (overseen by CMTHS culinary instructor Jarrett Young, who also runs Create-A-Cook sessions for kids).
Kriebel, Imperial and Young – former CMTHS students – are all members of the school’s Distinguished Alumni Association.
“And the three of them used their own time to help other people, while their own businesses were down and they were dealing with their own struggles,” Schram says.
As planned, May 26’s “Student Success Spotlight” featured a pre-recorded, streamed ceremony hosted by CMTHS Counselor Joe Dagney, followed by live virtual receptions for each of the school’s instructional specialties.
