Reading Symphony streaming ‘Mendelssohn Italian’ on Saturday
The Reading Symphony Orchestra will present a free classical music concert from the Santander Performing Arts Center in downtown Reading on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. via YouTube and Facebook.
“Mendelssohn Italian” will be performed with a 35-piece chamber orchestra featuring soloist Robert deMaine, principal cellist of the LA Philharmonic. Conducted by RSO Music Director Andrew Constantine, the program also features selections by Rossini and Shostakovich.
As part of the “RSO: Virtually Unstoppable” concert series, this free livestream will be a first for the RSO, and continues the symphony’s 108-year tradition of providing quality classical music entertainment for the community.

Studio B holding opening for ‘New Day — New World’ exhibit
Studio B Fine Art Gallery, 39A E. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown, will hold an opening reception today from 5 to 8 p.m. of a juried fine art exhibit in all media entitled “New Day — New World.” A virtual opening on Facebook Live will run from 6 to 7 p.m., when awards will be announced. The exhibit runs through March 21.
“The theme is open and designed to provoke an open discussion about art and its expressions on our planet, home, life, health, politics, race, religion, the environment, gender, diet, industry, landscape…actually anything that showcases what has inspired our artists in the last four years,” said Susan Biebuyck, gallery director.
The reception is free and open to the public. All safety protocols will be respected. Juror for the exhibit is Marilyn Fox, fine artist, who has served as gallery director, and arts administrator at Penn State Berks for 20 years.
