LOWER PROVIDENCE » A Lower Providence man must answer to charges in Montgomery County Court that he collected more than 7,300 images of child pornography on a computer tablet.

Edward Clyde Elvin Jr., 64, of the 100 block of Park Avenue, was ordered to stand trial, after waiving his preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar, on multiple felony charges of possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility in connection with alleged incidents that occurred between July and October 2020.

Elvin, who is represented by defense lawyer Brooks Thompson, remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail to await his formal arraignment on the charges in county court, after which a judge will schedule a trial date.

As conditions of bail, Rebar prohibited Elvin from using the internet and he is prohibited from having contact with minors.
