Three random winners from the submissions will be selected to receive $20 Amazon E-Cards at the end of February.
“People were sending the cards in by e-mail and I was printing them but then people asked if they could give the actual card, so they started dropping them off or I was arranging to pick them up,” noted Optimist Club President Lorin Richter. “We’ve gotten cards from Girl Scouts, Methacton High School, from grammar schools and from all over. Brownie leaders from Troop 7948 encouraged their troop to create beautiful cards. Everyone has until Jan. 31 to get their cards e-mailed or delivered and they will be delivered to the Meals On Wheels recipients the week of Valentine’s Day.”
Originally the plan was to give out the cards in Lower Providence only, but it quickly grew to include the Norristown to Limerick area, Richter said.
“The kids are doing a great job. Parents are looking for things kids can do at home and this will be very uplifting for the seniors. They don’t get much mail or much communication at all during COVID.”
