Margaret “Peg” Emma Leichthammer
Margaret “Peg” Emma Leichthammer (née Nelson) passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022 at the age of 106. Born March 23, 1916 to the late John and Emma (née Rowan) Nelson, she was the beloved wife of the late Frank O. Leichthammer; she is the loving mother of Margaret Domber and Frank Nelson Leichthammer (Laurie); cherished Grammy of Steven Domber, Gregory Domber, Carl Leichthammer, Mark Leichthammer, Andrew Leichthammer, Ali Haydock;
and great-grandmother of 9. Peg was preceded in death by her husband Frank and her siblings Chester L. Nelson, Alice L. Long, Isabelle R. little, and Florence M. Baldwin.
Peg graduated from A.D. Eisenhower High School, Norristown, PA and Pierce School of Business Administration, Philadelphia, PA. She worked as a legal secretary for the Wallace Keely Law Firm of Norristown, PA until 1942. Peg was an active member of the Norristown Garden Club and the Antiquists and a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norristown. During the Cold War she was a volunteer civilian plane spotter in the Ground Observer Corps of the Air Defense Command in Norristown, PA. After her husband’s retirement and with Peg as the driver, she and her husband explored England and Scotland for 5 weeks at a time for 5 years. They also spent May through October at their summer home on Lake Blaisdell in South Sutton, NH.
