Commission­ers award $44M in contracts

Employee insurance, technology agreements make up majority

NORRISTOWN >> Members of the Montgomery County Board of Commission­ers unanimousl­y authorized more than $44 million in contracts at a meeting Nov. 3.

The lion’s share of allocated funds was for 2023 benefits for the county’s approximat­ely 3,000 employees and their families. Trion

Group, a Marsh & McLennan Agency, LLC, of King of Prussia, negotiated a series of agreements for dental, life, medical, unemployme­nt insurance, which totaled more than $33.4 million.

The King of Prussia-based firm presented the following agreements:

• Health Advocate EAP: $30,000 for Health Advocate Inc.

• Health Advocacy & Employee

Support Services: $28,800 for Health Advocate Inc.

• Life Insurance Premium: $205,000 for The Hartford Life Insurance Company

• Long Term Disability Insurance Premium: $182,000 for The Hartford Life Insurance Company

• Medical Insurance Premium: $30,500,000 for Independen­ce Blue Cross

• Unemployme­nt Claims

Administra­tion: $15,000 for Talx Corporatio­n

• Unemployme­nt Compensati­on: $40,000 for the Commonweal­th of Pennsylvan­ia

• Vision Insurance Premium: $2,000 for Eyemed Vision Care

Another big ticket contract was with CDW Government, of Chicago, for roughly $10,041,669.

The eight-figure contract between the Chicago-based company and the Montgom

ery County Informatio­n and Technology Solutions Department covered the continuati­on of a Microsoft Enterprise agreement for the next three years. The contract permits the county to use Microsoft products until its expiration

date of Oct. 31, 2025.

Other contracts approved during the Nov. 3 Montgomery County Board of Commission­ers meeting covered several county department­s including assets and infrastruc­ture, human resources and informatio­n technology services, and purchasing.

Additional­ly, a $765,630 agreement with Road Con

Inc., of West Chester, covered work for maintenanc­e and repairs of the following Montgomery County bridges:

• County Bridge No. 69: The bridge is located along Sumneytown Pike, over Branch of Towamencin Creek, in Upper Gwynedd Township.

• County Bridge No. 73: The bridge is located along Swedesford Road,

over Wissahicko­n Creek, in Upper Gwynedd Township and Lower Gwynedd Township.

• County Bridge No. 118: The bridge is located along Keith Valley Road, over Park Creek, in Horsham Township.

• County Bridge No. 295: The bridge is located along North Dietz Mill Road, over Ridge Valley Creek, in Salford Township.

A previously advertised request for proposals netted four responses and 14 views from interested companies. A representa­tive of the roads and bridges division of the county’s assets and infrastruc­ture department endorsed the Chester County firm.
