The following events are planned for this weekend throughout the region: • Over 2,000 of the top American Kennel Club sanctioned dogs from across the country will compete in the Kennel Club of Philadelph­ia’s National Dog Show, taking place Saturday and Sunday from 8a.m. to 7p.m. at the Greater Philadelph­ia Expo Center, Oaks. More than 200breeds and varieties are eligible to compete for Best of Breed, First in Group and the coveted title of Best in Show. Each day brings different competitio­ns and attraction­s. Saturday is The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, taped for telecast nationwide on Thanksgivi­ng Day by NBC. It is the most widely viewed dog show in America. Sunday’s show offers more canine competitio­ns, enhanced athletic dog exhibition­s plus familyfrie­ndly activities and handson fun. • Malvern-based People’s Light theater company opens its seven-week run of “Alice in Wonderland: A Musical Panto” this weekend with performanc­es at 7p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The production runs through Jan. 1. The panto has been a People’s Light signature for almost two decades. With origins dating back to commedia dell’arte, the pantomime takes a wellknown children’s story and turns it on its ear. Audiences of all ages gather to partake in the songs, dances, topical jokes and jovial camaraderi­e of this longstandi­ng tradition. This year, People’s Light welcomes award-winning drag performer Eric Jaffe as the audience’s guide through the magical mayhem in the role of Dinah/Cheshire Cat. • Trey Anastasio Band and Goose have joined forces for a fall tour that makes its final stop at Santander Arena, Reading, on Saturday at 7:30p.m. Trey Anastasio Band’s latest release is the live album “Burn It Down, a three-dimensiona­l sonic time capsule that captures the eight-piece band on their January 2020tour. Produced and mixed by Vance Powell (Phish, Chris Stapleton, Jack White), the 15-song collection shows TAB at the peak of its powers, combining trademark tight musiciansh­ip with unbounded performanc­es. Goose is traveling on its biggest North American tour thus far following the critical and popular success of their new album, “Dripfield,” on No Coincidenc­e Records.

The tour follows an extended sit-in from Anastasio during one of Goose’s two sold-out shows at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall last summer. “Pawn Stars” recently filmed one of its episodes at the American Helicopter Museum and Education Center, West Chester. The museum will celebrate the show’s airing on Thursday with a “Pawn Stars” Premier Party from 6:30until 9p.m. “Pawn Stars” follows the daily activities at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, which opened in 1989. Richard “Old Man” Harrison, who originally operated the business, works alongside his son,

Rick Harrison, and grandson, Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison. Austin “Chumlee” Russell, a childhood friend of Corey, rounds out the crew. Using an approach similar to PBS’ “Antiques Roadshow,” the “Pawn Stars” production company invites everyday people to bring historical items they believe might be of interest to the pawn shop

gang. After an eliminatio­n process, those chosen to appear on the program meet with the cast to have their items appraised or even purchased on air. Admission to the Premier Party is $10per person (AHMEC members free) and includes watching “Pawn Stars” in the museum’s state-of-the-art theater, as well as a glass of wine or beer (while supplies last). • The Santander Performing Arts Center, Reading, presents Disney Princess — The Concert on Saturday at 7:30p.m. Drama Desk Award-nominee Christy Altomare (Broadway’s original Anya in “Anastasia”), Disney Channel icon Anneliese van der Pol (“That’s So Raven,” “Raven’s Home,” Broadway’s final Belle in “Beauty and

The Beast”), Theater World Award-winner Isabelle McCalla (Broadway’s Jasmine in “Aladdin”) and BroadwayWo­rld Award-winner Syndee Winters (Broadway’s Nala in “The Lion King,” “Hamilton”) will sing favorite Disney princess songs and share behind-the-scenes stories from their time on the stage and screen. Joining the quartet as music director will be Benjamin Rauhala (“Fiddler on the Roof,” “The Secret Life of Bees”), with Adam J. Levy (“Moulin Rouge,” “Waitress”) as Prince. • Bear Creek Mountain Resort, Longswamp Township, hosts its Harvest Wine Festival on Sunday from noon to 5p.m. Guests will enjoy wine and food samples, plus live music. Each guest will receive a commemorat­ive wine tasting glass, free samples and have access to the Wine Check service. Scheduled to perform are Amber Rae and Jake Kaligis, and Dave Fry will host an open jam at Trail’s End Cafe from 2to 4 p.m. More than three dozen wineries and other vendors will be on hand. • The Fashion Gala & Beauty Expo, presented by Luxus Boutique, Reading Vintage Expo and My Source Entreprene­ur, will take place Sunday from 3to 7p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in downtown Reading. The purpose is to highlight women, minorities and LGBTQ artists and entreprene­urs in the fashion, beauty and art industries. The event will bring together local designers, boutiques and small businesses to inspire connection­s and collaborat­ion within the community. The event will showcase vendors, musical performanc­es and a DJ, drinks, food and good vibes. Attendees will have the opportunit­y to purchase runway designs and local vendor products. Light appetizers and drinks will be served. Admission is $35.

• Firebird Theatre, a youth community theater organizati­on based in Phoenixvil­le, will present “Jingle Arrgh the Way: A ‘How I Became a Pirate’ Christmas Adventure” and “Into the Woods Jr.” on Saturday at 7p.m. and Sunday at noon at the Colonial Theatre, Phoenixvil­le. In “Jingle Arrgh the Way,” a mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of their ship brings Capt. Braid Beard and his pirate mates back to North Beach to seek out young Jeremy Jacob. Together, they help solve a riddle and find the Christmas treasure. In “Into the Woods Jr.,” Stephen Sondheim’s and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in an adaptation of their groundbrea­king, Tony Award-winning musical that features Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in a lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. • The Kennett Flash presents Antje Duvekot with special guest Barry Rabin on Friday at 8p.m. Duvekot has extensive touring experience, criss-crossing the United States and Europe many times. She has played some of the top festivals, including the Newport Folk Festival as well as the Mountain Stage, the Philadelph­ia Folk Festival and the Kerrville Folk Festival. She has won some of the top songwritin­g awards, including the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwritin­g Competitio­n, Kerrville’s prestigiou­s Best New Folk Award and the Boston Music Award for Outstandin­g Folk Act.
