8-percent tax hike proposed for 2023
County budget plan of $530M has $18.6M deficit
NORRISTOWN >> Montgomery County officials got a dismal look Thursday at the proposed 2023 budget in which the county is facing an $18.6 million deficit.
Montgomery County Commissioners authorized the advertisement of the proposed financial documents for the upcoming fiscal year in a 2-1 vote as Chief Financial Officer Dean Dortone gave information surrounding the county’s financial situation. The proposed 2023 budget showed $512.1 million in revenues, and $530.7 million in expenditures.
“So how do we balance the budget?” Dortone asked, proposing an 8 percent real estate tax increase in 2023, bringing the millage rate from 3.923 mills to 4.237 mills.
