NORRISTOWN >> Montgomery County Community College hit a milestone this year when graduating 1,606 students from the local higher educational institution.

The 2022 graduates were the “largest graduating class in Montco history,” according to President Victoria BasteckiPerez.

The Class of 2022 included 404 first generation graduates and 24 percent Black, indigenous and people of color, according to Bastecki-Perez, who praised the students’ achievements.

“It’s extraordinary because these individuals persisted and endured a pandemic and an endemic, and that we were still able to graduate a record number of our citizens,” she said.

Bastecki-Perez addressed members of Montgomery County Board of Commissioners during a Nov. 3 meeting providing an annual update of the community college’s progress.
