Johnson’s TD leads Del Val to playoff victory

Jahaire Johnson (Upper Moreland) caught the game-winning touchdown with 24 seconds left as Del Val completed a dramatic comeback to defeat RandolphMa­con 39-32 in Saturday’s second round NCAA Division III playoff game. For the game, Johnson had two catches for 54 yards — a 41yard touchdown and the 10-yard winning score.

Jay White (North Penn) rushed 13 times for 101 yards and a touchdown and Tahmir White (Archbishop Wood) had four carries for 10 yards and six receptions for 65 yards. On defense, Yusuf Aladinov (William Tennent) was a force with 11 tackles, 4.5 stops for loss totaling 17 yards and a pair of sacks for 11 yards. The end also broke up a pass and registered a quarterbac­k hit. Nick Chapman (Hatboro-Horsham) had 1.5 tackles for loss in his eight stops and Micah Bootman (Upper Dublin) recorded five tackles.

• Reece Udinski (North Penn) was masterful as Richmond topped Davidson 41-0 in the first

round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday. The fifth-year senior completed 28-of-31 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns for his most accurate throwing day of the season.Udinski’s 90.3% completion percentage was a new FCS playoff game record on 15-plus attempts. For the year, Udinski has completed 75% of his passes for 26 touchdowns and 3398 yards.

• Abdul Carter (La Salle) collected a team-high seven tackles, including two sacks for 16 yards of loss and three total tackles for a loss of 17 yards as Penn State downed Michigan State 35-16 on Saturday. Carter, a freshman linebacker, played in all 12 games for the 10-2 Nittany Lions with 55 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Nick Tarburton (Pennridge) added a tackle and two pass breakups for Penn State, which will await its bowl destinatio­n.

• Justis Henley (North Penn) had four tackles and two pass break-ups as Delaware topped St. Francis (PA) 56-17 on Saturday in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. Dillon Trainer (La Salle) had two tackles, as did Tommy Walsh (Archbishop Wood) for the Blue Hens.

Women’s basketball

• Anna McTamney (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a career day for West Chester in Saturday’s 86-81 win over Jefferson. The sophomore, in her first year with the Golden Rams after transferri­ng from USciences, scored 30 points on 12-of-20 shooting with six rebounds, an assist, a block and three steals. McTamney had 21 in the first half, hitting 9-of-11 shots and 3-of-4 from threepoint range. In four games, she is averaging 16.3 ppg on

54.2% shooting.

• Maddie Burke (CB West), Lucy Olsen (SpringFord), Brooke Mullin (Neshaminy) and Kaitlyn Orihel (Archbishop Wood) helped Villanova to a 2-1 record at the Gulf Coast Classic. In Friday’s 83-80 win over Belmont, Olsen dropped 20 points on 8-of14 shooting with three rebounds and four assists, Burke had 11 points, including 3-of-6 three-point shooting with two rebounds and an assist, Mullin had two points, three boards and five assists and Orihel posted three points.

Saturday, in a 75-70 loss to Baylor, Burke hit 3-of-3 from deep for nine points with three rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Olsen had 18 points on 7-of14 shooting with five rebounds and an assist, Mullin scored four points with three rebounds and two assists and Orihel had three points.

Wrapping up with a 7250 win over South Florida, Olsen posted 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting plus three rebounds, five assists and three steals. Burke scored nine points with five points, an assist and a block, Mullin posted five points, three assists and two steals and Orihel had a point, rebound and steal. For the event, Burke shot 9-of-16 from three point range and Olsen was 20-of-38 overall.

• Alana Cardona (Souderton) had 22 points on 8-of13 field goals, plus 10 rebounds, two assists and a block for IUP in Wednesday’s 79-61 win over Ohio Dominican. The fifth-year forward has started all four games with a 12.3 ppg average.

• Mikaela Reese (Souderton) and Megan Bealer (Souderton) posted another impressive outing for DeSales in Monday’s 63-52 win over Moravian. Reese had 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting plus eight rebounds, two assists

and four blocks while Bealer racked up a doubledoub­le with 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Olivia Scotti (Neshaminy) added three rebounds, one point, an assist and a steal.

• Izzy Larsen (Archbishop Wood) made her first start for Northeaste­rn in Saturday’s 67-41 loss to Portland. The junior from Hatfield had four points, six rebounds, a block and three steals. Elle Stauffer (Germantown Academy) had seven points, six rebounds and two assists for Harvard in Monday’s 85-43 win over Merrimack.

• Kaitlyn Flanagan (Plymouth Whitemarsh) posted six points, five rebounds, an assist and two steals for Holy Cross in Wednesday’s 52-42 setback to Boston College. Flanagan had a season-high seven assists, along with four points, a rebound and steal in Sunday’s 68-55 win over Dartmouth.

• Alli Lindsay (North Penn) made her season debut for King’s College in last Sunday’s 67-61 loss to Marywood. The sophomore guard popped off for 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 4-of-7 from long range and added four rebounds and four assists.

• Emily Chmiel (CB East) scored 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, adding five rebounds, two blocks and two steals to lead Chestnut Hill College to a 68-57 win over Kutztown on Monday. Lauren Crim (Lansdale Catholic) added eight points and two assists, Abbey Spratt (CB West) tallied three points, two rebounds and two assists and Bri Hewlett had two points and a steal for CHC.

• Jess Polin (Upper Dublin) had her best game of the season for East Stroudsbur­g University on Tuesday against Jefferson, scoring 11 points including 3-of-3 shooting from three-point

range, plus two steals Carley Adams (North Penn) scored two points with a rebound, assist and steal. Polin repeated an 11-point effort in Sunday’s 62-54 win over Georgian Court, adding a rebound, block and steal and Adams scoring four points.

• Lauren Fortescue (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had four points, a rebound, four assists and a steal for Christophe­r Newport in Sunday’s 96-28 win over Lynchburg.

• Haley Keenan (Bensalem) erupted for 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting as Del Val slammed PSU Abington 84-45 on Monday, with Keenan also adding a career high 10 steals plus four rebounds and three assists. Tori Bockrath (Methacton) broke out with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, the freshman adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Jaye Haynes (Germantown Academy) had nine points, two rebounds and an assist for La Salle in Tuesday’s 71-54 win over La Salle.

• Alexa Brodie (CB South) tallied nine points, four rebounds and an assist for Colgate in a 64-58 loss to Canisius on Tuesday.

Men’s basketball

• Sean Yoder (Pennridge) had four rebounds, an assist and a steal for Navy in Saturday’s 75-59 win over Mount St. Mary’s.

Justin Moore (Archbis• hop Wood) scored four points with two rebounds and two assists for Drexel in Monday’s 59-38 win over Texas-Arlington. In Sunday’s 73-61 loss to Temple, Moore had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, Luke House (Archbishop Carroll) scored six points plus two assists and Cole Hargrove (Methacton) had two points, an assist and two steals.

• Trent Fisher (Pennridge) lit it up for Wilkes

in Monday’s 84-81 win over Marywood. The forward scored 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting plus six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals. Through six games, Fisher is averaging 12.2 ppg with a 7.2 rebound per game average and leads the team with eight blocks.

• Erik Timko (Methacton) posted 19 points, making six three-point shots, with six rebounds, six assists and four steals as Jefferson topped Bloomsburg 91-77 on Monday. Timko put up a season-high 32 points on 13-of-21 shooting, adding six rebounds and two assists in Sunday’s 77-68 loss to Adelphi.

• Eric Dixon (Abington) had 21 points, 10 rebounds and two steals as Villanova dropped an 81-79 game toIowa State in Thursday’s opening round of the Phil Knight Invitation­al. Chris Arcidiacon­o (Neshaminy) added six points, three rebounds and five assists and Jordan Longino (Germantown Academy) posted seven points and two rebounds. In Friday’s 83-71 loss to Portland, Dixon had 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Arcidiacon­o posted three points, five rebounds and two assists and Longino scored 14 points with two rebounds and an assist. Sunday, in a 74-67 loss to Oregon, Dixon had 13 points, six rebounds and an assist while Arcidiacon­o had nine points, three rebounds and six assists.

• Jeff Woodward (Methacton) and Colgate took part in the Cathedral Classic hosted by Penn. In Friday’s 72-68 loss to Delaware, Woodward notched 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and a block. In Saturday’s 81-69 loss to Penn, Woodward had seven points and five rebounds. Woodward was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor for 12 points with three rebounds,

four assists and two blocks in Sunday’s 92-58 win over Hartford.

Women’s soccer

• Mac Pluck (Germantown Academy) and Duke saw their season end with a 3-2 overtime loss to Alabama in Saturday’s NCAA Tournament quarterfin­als. Pluck, a graduate student from Harleysvil­le, started her final match with the Blue Devils. On the season, Pluck started 21 of 23 matches with three goals and tied a career-best with eight assists. In five seasons in Durham, Pluck played in 107 games — most all-time for the program — with 78 starts and accumulate­d 21 goals with six game-winners and 29 assists, tied for fourth-best in Blue Devils history.

• West Chester had the week off from games but will face Ferris State University in the Division II Final Four on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Seattle Washington. The Rams feature a strong local contingent led by Kiley Kergides (Germantown Academy), who has started 22 of 23 games on defense, playing the most minutes of any field player on the team with three goals and an assist plus and Alyson Cutter (CB South) who has seven goals and five assists as a super-sub, starting 11 of 23 matches. Nicolette Harrison (Pennridge) has three goals and an assist in 17 starts and Deanna Lebotesis (Neshaminy) has been a defensive stalwart starting all 23 matches. Audrey Schweizerh­of (Dock Mennonite), Olivia Gentile (Pennsbury), Mollie Hanson (Gwynedd Mercy Academy), Antonia Linus (Penn Charter), Sam Hollish (Hatboro-Horsham) and Becca Margolis (CR North) are all members of the team Assistant coach Maddy Evans is an Abington graduate.
