New Willow Run plat approved

The final plat for Willow Run, a new subdivision on the south side of Slack Street, was approved in a special meeting Monday night.

Developer Kevin Felgenhauer asked city officials for the special meeting, for which he will be billed, as he anticipated having met all requirements and wanted to get the final plat to the City Council for approval instead of waiting another month.

City Street Department superintendent Nathan See and city building official Tony Townsend both told planners Felgenhauer had completed all work necessary.

Planner Jerry Burton asked Felgenhauer about the two properties adjacent to the subdivision. Felgenhauer told planners he had purchased one of them and planned to clean up the yard and fence it. He said he may raze the house in the future and add more duplexes.

He also asked whether there is a plan of making the front property commercial.

“We’ve talked about it. I don’t know about the need,” Felgenhauer said.

Planning Commission members

Donnie Ewald, Michael Wilhelm, Jerry Burton and Al Fowler were present. Ewald chaired the meeting.

The only item missing on the required check-list was a notation of zoning for the property and adjacent properties, one of which is in the county.

“You need to talk to those engineers,” Burton said, about the lack of notation for the current zoning. “They have a copy of this (current requirements of check list). It gets old and it’s a burden.”

“They have a copy and should be well aware,” Burton said.

Townsend told planners there would be no tech review on July 12 as there is nothing to discuss.
