Events slated hon­or­ing veter­ans

Les Hinton, a Korean War vet­eran, will be the grand mar­shal of the an­nual Pea Ridge Veter­ans Parade sched­uled for 1 p.m. Satur­day, Nov. 10.

Hinton, 90, en­listed in the U.S. Navy in 1950. He has been a life mem­ber of the Veter­ans of For­eign Wars for more than 20 years and was post com­man­der for VFW Post 4205 in 2009-10.

Sev­eral events are sched­uled to honor veter­ans in Pea Ridge. Veter­ans are in­vited to each event.

The Pea Ridge In­ter­me­di­ate

School Veter­ans

Day as­sem­bly is set for 1:30 p.m. Fri­day, Nov. 9, in the In­ter­me­di­ate School gym.

The parade is set for 1 p.m. Satur­day. The stag­ing area is on Townsend Way be­hind Eq­uity Bank north of Slack Street. Stag­ing be­gins at noon. There is no fee for floats. Com­mu­nity par­tic­i­pa­tion is wel­comed and en­cour­aged, ac­cord­ing to or­ga­nizer Chris Snow. Veter­ans are en­cour­aged to drive or be driven in the parade or ride on a float.

The Pea Ridge High School Veter­ans Day As­sem­bly is set for 10 a.m. Mon­day, Nov. 12, in the high school gym and is spon­sored by the PRHS Stu­dent Coun­cil.
